Kamloops Councillors holiday transit expansion motion fails

Councillor Donovan Cavers’ effort to have Kamloops offer public transit 365 days per year won’t get off the ground.

As it stands there is no transit service on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Christmas Day.

Cavers wanted staff to explore the cost of providing transit on those days but Councillor Marg Spina says it’s already apparent it would be costly. Cavers replied he wants the service to be new.

Mayor Peter Milobar noted BC Transit has not allocated those hours to the city.
