Nov 24, 2022 | 7:11 AM

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers now have points in five straight games after a 6-1 road win over the Tri-City Americans Wednesday (Nov. 23) night.

After a scoreless first period, the Blazers scored two quick power play goals – Fraser Minten wristed a puck in from above the circles on a delayed penalty before Caedan Bankier also wristed the puck from the nearside circle – to make it 2-0.

The Americans scored late in the second to cut the deficit to 2-1, although a quick steal from Logan Stankoven behind the net and a pass to Daylan Kuefler in front restored the Blazers’ two-goal lead.

The Blazers wouldn’t let the Americans get any closer, scoring three goals in the third period en route to the 6-1 win.

The Blazers improve to 10-4-2-1 on the 2022-23 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 23 points in 17 games. They sit second in the WHL B.C. Division, three points behind the Prince George Cougars with five games in hand, and fifth in the WHL Western Conference.

Next up is a Friday (Nov. 26) night home game against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from Sandman Centre.
